Dr Naresh Trehan, a well-known doctor in the country and founder of Medanta Hospital, described the severity of the variant, saying that a single person infected with the Omicron variant of Corona could infect 18 to 20 people.
Regarding the current status of corona in the country, Love Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health, informed that the country has been witnessing a decline in new cases of corona for the last one month.
He said that now only two states Maharashtra and Kerala have more than 10,000 active cases, accounting for 55 per cent of the total infected cases in the country.
Love Agarwal said an estimated 49 per cent of the population in the country had seen a decline in the number of coron infections only after receiving both doses of the corona vaccine.
